This is a story about the car of dreams upon dreams. Please indulge me, NJ (the curator), in my wild fantasies.
Automobile makers are now fervently developing BEVs,driven by environmental concerns, the demand for sustainable ecology, and technological advancements that enhance convenience. This trend is accelerating, notwithstanding some backlash. However, for me, a car is all about the heartbeat of its engine.I cannot fathom the idea of a silent F1 race. Witha desire to create and race. With a desire to create and race such a car, I have put my thoughts onto drawing paper.
The inception of this dream traces back to the “Honda NSX MUGEN RR concept” unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2009, during my time with MUGEN. At that time, Honda was preparing to introduce the new NSX to the market. It was to be a FR car equipped with a V10 engine, but (due to the impact of the Lehman Shock) it was canceled just before its commercial release, becoming a phantom model amidst the generational transition. Against this backdrop, MUGEN decided to propose a concept model that sought to explore the potential of the first-generation NSX. Thus, we materialized the theme of a GT-NSX road-going car.
As time flows, I have reimagined it as a dream of HCS, a hobby car that focuses more on performance, a tribute model. Imagine a car with a steel tube frame like a racing car, equipped with a longitudinally mounted Honda J-series engine. A cowl-type body filled with homages to the GT-NSX and a pushrod suspension system. What do you think about a car like this, which specializes in the fundamental performances of running, turning, and stopping, defying the era? While creating it in reality might be financially challenging, dreaming is always a delightful endeavor.
